To Russia with love: Behind the scenes with Fashion Collection Magazine https://www.amyfreudenberg.com/2013/01/01/to-russia-with-love-maka-lanza-make-the-pages-of-fashion-collection-magazine/ Tue, 01 Jan 2013 21:06:27 +0000 http://www.amyfreudenberg.com/?p=137 raina_hein_sacro_pic

In November, Amy Freudenberg, hit the L.A. scene to work with fashion photographer, Mark Sacro, on an editorial image collection for Fashion Collection magazine.  The publication is a part of Russia’s growing fashion industry and efforts.

For the shoot, which featured America’s Next Top Model contestant, Raina Hein, Amy created unique looks to pair with the arresting wardrobe chosen by the
magazine for the photoshoot.

Here’s more from Amy Freudenberg:

How did this project develop?
AF: “As I always say, network, network, network! I met with Mark via Facebook after seeing his work for NAHA in 2012.  We kept in contact and were eventually able to find a project that was a good fit for both of us.”

What was your inspiration in creating the hair looks?
AF: “In editorial work, it’s critical that the hair styles partner perfectly with wardrobe and work within the photographer’s vision for the shot. I tried to create smooth styles in cases where the dresses were textured and highly textured looks when the wardrobe was smooth or sleek.”

Do you have any advice for stylists looking to do more editorial work?
AF: “Reach out to photographers in your area who are shooting for local and national publications. Also, try to develop your speed as much as possible. Similar to large wedding parties, editorial styling usually has to be fast to stay on schedule.”

This September, Amy Freudenberg hit New York Fashion Week, a top event in the world of style, working behind-the-scenes at the Nautica Men’s Spring 2013 Fashion Presentation. Held on the rooftop of the iconic Empire Hotel in Lincoln Center, the new Nautica collection contained 30 looks in vibrant colors, designed for today’s stylish but classic man.  Amy and Michelle worked as part of the hair team, creating hair styes designed to complement the fashions being presented.

Here’s more from Amy Freudenberg:

How did you receive this opportunity?
AF: “I made contact with the hair and makeup team coordinator via my networking on Facebook. I was invited to work alongside the team for the event.”

What types of looks did you create?
AF: “The fashion show coordinators had a very strong vision for the looks they wanted us to style. They were highly focused on the concept of the classic, well-groomed man. Most of our styles were simple, timeless men’s hair looks.”

What was your favorite part of the experience?
AF: “Getting to see a new fashion collection before it was released to the public was a major thrill. But the best part was meeting the other amazing stylists on the team!”

Amy hits the Playboy Mansion for a night of patriotism https://www.amyfreudenberg.com/2010/10/01/126/ Fri, 01 Oct 2010 20:54:32 +0000 http://www.amyfreudenberg.com/?p=126 amy_at_playboy_mansion

Amy Freudenberg is one busy stylist! When she’s not working behind the chair, Amy is styling fashion shows, photo shoots and special events.  This time Amy takes her styling talents to Beverly Hills for a charity event at the infamous Playboy Mansion.

Last May, Amy packed up her styling bag of tricks and headed to the Stars & Stripes Charity Event held at the Beverly Hills Playboy Mansion! She was thrilled to be able to participate as a hair stylist as this event where proceeds benefited veterans wounded during conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Seeing the iconic Playboy Mansion was a dream come true,” Amy says. “But knowing that the festivities were to help our brave veterans made the whole experience worthwhile.”

Amy caught the staff shuttle at the Beverly Plaza Hotel and arrived at the Beverly Hills Playboy Mansion at 8:30am.  The hair and makeup team were setup in the mansion’s gameroom, which houses a fantastic collection of Hugh Heffner memorabilia along with classic arcade games and a pool table. The amazing 15-person team of body paint artists were hard at work in an outdoor tent creating pinup style looks inspired by the 1950’s era military.

As part of the hair styling team, Amy worked to develop creative upstyles consistent with the event’s theme and also incorporated the vintage military hats supplied by the body paint team.

Next it was off to the party! Stylists working the event were invited to attend the $2500 per person cocktail event at no charge. Hugh Heffner, along with his girlfriend Crystal Harris, kicked off the party. Amy partied with celebrities including David Hasselhoff, Tara Reid, and Verne Troyer. Guests enjoyed complimentary drinks and a fantastic buffet that included a sushi table, Italian spread and delicious desserts. “I will never forget my day at the world’s most famous mansion!” she says with a grin.
